A View from Outside the Box

Recently I posted some photos with text, famous writers huts and sheds where they worked their magic with words.  I was wishing I had such a space as I have been writing in the cacophony of family life.  I talked about how writing has been a dream of mine for a long time, and that finally starting to fulfill it has made me very happy.  I posed a question to all of you (and you are still welcome to answer), “what would you really like to do that you haven’t done as yet?”  One of my followers, a real sweetheart, didn’t want me to be a lone voice in the woods, unheard.  He answered the question and I love his answer.  For him I have searched high, as high as a mountain, and low - to find something that represents just a part of what he would love to do.  For ‘mings’, I give you Kilimanjaro, gorgeous mountain, the tallest in Africa.  You also said you wanted to learn to play the guitar and just look what I found - a guy with a guitar (the small travel model) ON TOP OF KILIMANJARO!  I was quite impressed with myself finding an image that combined the two.  It doesn’t stop there though.  I also went looking for a cottage on Skye, you would think an easy requirement.  I found you one, perfect for your needs I think.  It’s the humble, solid two up, two down I spoke of previously but this one has an added feature you will appreciate.  It’s called Alt Dearg and it’s found near Sligachan and yes, that is the Cullins (mountains) you see.  Or, if you are like me and you like to be close to water, what better place than Elgol, just look at the view!  ”Mings,” I really hope at least one of those dreams come true.  Now I’ll stop waffling and print your answer to my question.

Two self-indulgent things I’d really like to do - learn to play guitar properly, and climb Mt Kilimanjaro.  I don’t know whether my old bones will let me do either for much longer.  Then there’s building a house extension to give us more room, and especially an ensuite so that my wife doesn’t have to share a bathroom with kids that don’t respect the way we prefer to live.  And that’s apart from winning the lottery and buying a place on Skye.  Of course, I have to start playing the lottery first…
