Following on from this week’s post, “Olfactory Connections,” about scent and its relationship to memory and attraction, ‘daywhite’ offered some scent memories of his own:
“As for olfactory, scent has always been very important to me, from holding memories of my grandmother to the scent of a woman’s hair, still damp from the shower. Also, so-called negative scents, as the scent of chicken that has gone bad, spoiled. We had some at work, and I couldn’t get the scent out of my olfactory area for two days; I smelled it everywhere. Easily, a least favorite smell or scent. Favorite scents would be the aforementioned woman’s still damp hair after a shower (type of shampoo or hair wash seems irrelevant), burning leaves in fall, the new baby smell that all new babies seem to have, and so many others.”
