The Bella Jane making it’s way back from Loch Coruisk to Elgol.
(Elgol, Isle of Skye)
The puffin equivalent of going down to the pub.
Near the Isle of Canna in the Inner Hebrides, Scotland.
Loch Coruisk, Isle of Skye - where the mountains rise up to meet the clouds, time hangs on a sigh, and the sea is alight with rainbow fire.

I’m never long away from this island, today was no different. I cannot get over how beautiful this is, a great photo but all the more so knowing it’s an ordinary beautiful day on the Isle of Skye. The boat you are looking at is the Misty Isle, boat trips for those who want to explore, departing from Elgol, desination - Loch Coruisk. If you want to see how old this earth really is, take a trip to Loch Coruisk - despite the many people that come to admire and photograph it every year, it feels untouched by time and ancient, which it is.
An invitation: For all of you who read my frequent Skye posts, where is your special place, what makes it so for you and why? Tell me about it and I’ll look for a stunning photo to go with any place you name and post your response.
Now this is Scotland at it’s best; dramatic mountains, dark clouds threatening, light resolutely breaking through, the deep bottle green-black of the water, and sun and rain to give us this miracle of nature, a rainbow. This is Elgol, Isle of Skye and it seemed a fitting photo to finish the day with. The Skye series I have been feeding you for days is a lovely symptom of my situation. I’ve been writing about Skye and my head is there, in that place just now. For the really interested, I have very nearly finished Chapter Seven, about 1/4 of the way there! The hard work of writing aside, we don’t mind looking at this, do we?

Back on Loch Coruisk, the wildlife abound. Today I feel like those dolphins, happily leaping out of the water. Apparently there are hundreds of them in this unspoiled part of the world. I love the seal pup, curious and wary at the same time, out of the water briefly before returning to the Loch. If you find yourself on Skye, your journey will not be complete until you go to Elgol and take one of these Misty Isles Boat Trips (click on link for more photos and information). It is a stunning, magical place.

This is Loch Coruisk, one of the most stunning places in the world, found on the Isle of Skye. It is a place of rugged beauty, has an abundance of wildlife and is remarkably unspoiled. You can walk there from Sligachan, a long trek for the fairly hardy. If you are fortunate enough to be able to take one of the Misty Isles Boat Trips from Elgol to Coruisk, you will at points be asking yourself if you have stepped into a tardis. It’s so unspoiled you feel as if you have slipped back in time. Have a look at the link for more amazing pictures.
